The 2024 Unforgettable Gala
While today’s modern media has become increasingly more diverse and inclusive over the years, the recognition of Asian Americans at major industry awards has often been overlooked. A 2020 study by the University of Southern California found that only 2.3% of Academy Award nominations in acting categories went to Asian actors over the past decade. The glitz and glamour that is so synonymous with Hollywood has repeatedly excluded Asian Americans. Established in 2002, the Gala honors the achievements of Asian actors on and off the screen, recognizing the work and struggle they have gone through in order to get where they are now. This event finally puts Asian Americans at the forefront of the spotlight that they have for so long been pushed out of.
This glamorous night is to be held on December 14 at the Beverly Hilton, co chaired by director Adele Lim, and actor/producer Eugene Lee Yang. Guests will be treated to a three-course gourmet dinner, and will be able to witness incredible live performances throughout the night.
Some of this year’s award recipients include Emmy award winner Anna Sawai (who was the first individual of Asian descent to win Outstanding Lead Actress), award winning film Dìdi’s 17 year old Izaac Wong, and Director Joan Chen. These individuals are just a handful of the many being recognized on this very exciting night. They have all exhibited amazing talent in each of their respective roles, but have also done much to further benefit and uplift the Asian American community.
You can catch the Unforgettable Gala on Chime TV, powered by Golden TV and Character Media.
