Ranking Ranch

To some, it’s a dressing, others a dipping sauce, but to me, it's a livelihood. Ranch has been a long-standing pillar in the American diet for decades now, served at almost every restaurant in the country. It’s very likely that you or someone you know has fallen victim to a $0.50 ranch surcharge at least once in your life. With so many different renditions of the same classic sauce, though, it would be virtually impossible to try them all. That is why I will NOT be trying every ranch in the United States, but I will be trying as many ranch options in Santa Clarita as possible.

Hidden Valley

6/10

The CLASSIC. While this ranch is the standard, there is definitely room for improvement.

Wingstop

10/10

I am so serious when I say that I don’t think anything could ever prepare you for the tasting of this divine substance. Paired with their chicken(shout out to their hot honey rub), you will be having dreams about this ranch.

Chilis

4/10

Someone compared this to Wingstop. I’m offended. It’s definitely watered down, but if you’re at Chilis, you should already know what to expect.

Chick-fil-A

8.5/10

This used to be my favorite until I met my one true love, Wingstop ranch. Honestly there’s something about this one; like I understand it's a buttermilk ranch, but I swear they left out the milk too long because it always tastes too sour.

McDonald’s

5/10

It’s fine. It’s McDonald's, you know.

Wendy’s

6.4/10

Personally, this is the one exception I would make to always dipping my fries in ranch, Wendy’s is truly the place for Frostys and Frostys only. That being said, their ranch was nothing to write home about, and like I said, personally, I would skip it.

Panera

7.8/10

While they obviously don’t serve many items to be dipped at Panera, the classic, and some may argue only, use of ranch as a salad dressing works perfectly in their salads, especially if you want a lighter ranch-paired meal.
