In the past few months, many new and exciting businesses have opened their doors to the Santa Clarita Valley. Here are a few that you should check out:

  1. Bonchon (24919 Pico Canyon Road)

  2. Bonchon is a restaurant that specializes in making Korean-style fried chicken. Bonchon has opened about 20 locations across California and finally opened its Santa Clarita location in August of this year. They sell Korean fried chicken in three flavors: spicy, Korean BBQ, and soy garlic. Some of their other popular menu items include potstickers, bulgogi fries, Korean tacos, and traditional Korean noodle dishes like JapChae.

  3. Dirty Dough (25888 The Old Rd)

  4. Dirty Dough recently opened up in Stevenson Ranch, replacing Jamba Juice. Dirty Dough sells unique cookies that include delicious fillings and layers of cookie dough. Their cookies are described as thick and flavorful, and their menu rotates weekly, featuring specific flavors every week. Some of their options include maple brown sugar oatmeal, buckeye brownie, and stuffed chocolate chip.

  5. Teagan’s Enchanted Tea Room (24335 Main St, Santa Clarita)

  6. Located in Newhall, Teagan’s Enchanted Tea Room is providing customers with the opportunity to experience an afternoon tea party. You get to pick your choice of tea from over 50 flavors, as well as an assortment of pastries and finger sandwiches. The business also offers private event spaces for birthday parties and other celebrations. Some of their popular menu items include cotton candy iced tea, raspberry cheesecake sandwiches, and pistachio rose scones.

New Farmers Market in Valencia (Nishika)

A new farmers market has opened in the FivePoint neighborhood of Valencia. It is located at 27426 Navigation Ave and takes place every Sunday from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The market features lots of fruits, vegetables, and unique foods and drinks, as well as live music.

The farmers market features produce from farms such as El Abuelo Farms, Verni and Halaby Farms, AV Microgreens, and Aziz Farms, many of which also participate in the Newhall farmers market. Additionally, you can find freshly baked bread, high quality herbs, and local honey.

The Valencia Farmer’s Market also features many other businesses that you won’t be able to find elsewhere. One unique business is Holy Crepe, which specializes in creating many different flavors of crepes. Some other popular businesses at the market include Encanto Ice Cream and Lemonade, which features delicious treats like frozen bananas and ice cream bars, and a Gilmore Girls themed coffee shop.

New Chaperone Rule at Fright Fest (Ava)

Spooky season is nearly upon us, meaning that Fright Fest at Six Flags is starting up the heart-stopping fun again! Fright Fest 2024 opened on September 9, and will continue until November 3. The annual event was started in 1993, only straying from tradition in 2020 during COVID. The festival this year has a combined total of twenty scare zones and haunted houses. Six of the houses are all-new additions, with five of them returning from previous years. Three new scare zones have also been introduced to the collection, along with returning zones. Fright Fest enthusiasts have been swarming to Six Flags from all over to experience the bone-chilling attractions, but not everyone is excited for the event.

Earlier this summer, Six Flags announced their new chaperone policy, in which guests 15 and under cannot enter the park without a chaperone who is at least 21 years old. Many adults are applauding the park for taking this step, while some youths have taken to social media to complain about what they see as an unfair act against them. However, there has been a record of Fright Fest incidents involving juveniles, most recently the mob fight ending in the shooting of a 15-year-old boy, therefore justifying the precautions. Other than that, Six Flags Magic Mountain will be bringing us the same thrilling festival experience that we have loved for more than thirty years, and it is sure to be a spooky, unforgettable experience!
