Holiday Theatre Around SCV
With winter right around the corner, the holidays are here! Around Santa Clarita, there are several ways you can celebrate these festivals. One example is holiday theatre: see a snowy musical or a jingly performance. Local schools and theatres are putting together wonderful holiday plays. We can support them while enjoying time with family and friends!
First, the Canyon Theatre Guild in Old Town Newhall is playing Elf: The Musical until December 23. Based on the Holiday Classic, Buddy, a young orphan, accidentally crawls into Santa Claus’s sack of presents and ends up in the North Pole. He is raised there and has no idea that he is a human, not an elf, but eventually has to face the truth. Tickets are $23 for adults and $19 for juniors (under 18) / seniors (62+). Performances are Fridays at 8pm (12/8, 12/15, 12/22); Saturdays at 2pm (12/9, 12/16) and 8pm (12/9, 12/16, 12/23); Sundays at 2pm (12/10, 12/17) and 7pm (12/17); and weeknights at 7pm (12/19, 12/20, 12/21). For tickets, go in person to the Canyon Theatre Guild or purchase online. More information is available at www.canyontheatre.org.
Next up, The MAIN is putting on Theatre in a Week: Holiday Edition on Sunday, December 17, 2023. Performances will be Friday, 10/10 from 8pm to 10:30pm; Saturday, 10/11 at 8pm; and Sunday, 10/12 at 2pm. Theatre in a Week has six one-act comedies, which are written by Barry Agin and show the antics of the holiday season.
These incredible winter plays and /musicals will blow your stockings off! The Canyon Theatre Guild and The MAIN will appreciate your support, and in turn, you can appreciate their hard work. Spend time with your loved ones around the holidays this year, and have fun watching some talented individuals!
