The World’s Only ‘Bookstore Airbnb’ has a two-year Wait List for Guests Wanting to Sell Used Books By the Day.
The seaside village of Wigtown, Scotland, the country’s National Book Town, hosts an Airbnb with a two-year waitlist, living up to its reputation as a worldwide sensation since its opening in August 2014, hosting more than 450 guests. The guests stay in a flat above the bookshop for £150 a week, selling books during their stay. Guests have multiple options for running the shop, such as recategorizing books, altering prices, changing displays, or running the bookshop quietly. According to the Wigtown Festival Company, the goal of Airbnb is “to celebrate books, independent bookshops, and welcome people from around the world”. So if you’re looking for a productive vacation, put your name on that long list, maybe you’ll get lucky!
Long-Lost Diana of Versailles Statue Sank with the Titanic–But Was Just Found on the Ocean Floor
The RMS Titanic is the Georgia company that aims to explore and preserve the artifacts on the famed boat. Recently, the company uncovered some high-quality photos after the first unmanned exploration in fourteen years, one being the two-foot-tall bronze statue of the goddess Diana which stood on the fireplace mantle of the first-class lounge. “It’s truly a needle in a haystack that is two-and-a-half miles underwater in pitch-black darkness,” researcher James Penca told the news outlets. Fortunately, they recovered photos due to the advancement of technology, and now photos of the beautiful statue are open to the public.
Baby Hippo, Moo Deng, in Thailand Zoo, is Taking Over the Internet
Back in July, a baby pygmy hippo, Moo Deng, was born in the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Thailand, which sprouted a frenzy of photos and videos from Moo Deng’s fanbase worldwide. Since Moo Deng’s popularity, the number of guests at the zoo has increased to 10,000 per day. The Khao Kheow Open Zoo has also supported this newfound fame, posting the baby hippo on its official Facebook, X, and YouTube pages. However, the zoo has had to regulate guest meetings as Moo Deng and her mother have faced animals throwing various items into their enclosure. Meetings have been capped at 5 minutes per guest on Saturdays and Sundays. Remember to always be mindful of the animals when visiting zoos!
