British Doctors Cure Teen With a Rare Genetic Condition

Kai Xue, 13 years old, was diagnosed with one of the top rarest conditions in the world known as WILD Syndrome. WILD Syndrome impairs cells which causes lymphedema and warts, and leads to infections. On top of having WILD Syndrome, Kai Xue was also diagnosed with severe chylous ascites which caused 28 liters of lymphatic fluid to gather within her abdomen. Xue’s mother, Ning Chen, spent ten years looking for doctors in the UK to find the cause of her conditions, and even traveled to China to find a successful treatment for her daughter. Fortunately, Dr. Mona Mossad along with a team of experienced surgeons were able to successfully cure Kai Xue by removing excess fluid and fixing a leak in her liver. After staying at Staffordshire Children’s Hospital at Royal Stroke for five weeks, Kai Xue was able to happily return home.

PE Coach Assigns Uninterested Students to Run With Shelter Dogs

Luis Escobar, a cross-country coach at St. Joseph High School in Santa Maria, California, came up with a genius idea to motivate his students to run with the help of shelter dogs. The cross-country coach first contacted an animal shelter in Santa Barbara to see if they would be open to his idea. The animal shelter agreed, and matched athletes with dogs that needed running. The students had so much fun running with the dogs, that some of them even decided to adopt their furry friend. The head coach of the cross-country team, Allison Szponar, was filled with happiness as she saw her student athletes caring for abandoned dogs. The staff members of the animal shelter are beyond thrilled knowing that their dogs are allowed an opportunity to shake off their nervous energy and find a loving home.
