Toddler Is Reunited with Brother Who Revived Her After Drowning in Family Pool

A touching moment was caught on camera when 18-year-old Eric Johnson saved his 2-year-old sister, Rose, from drowning in their family pool. He gave her CPR, and she regained consciousness before paramedics arrived. This event happened around two years ago, but their mom, Nina, recently shared the story to highlight the importance of learning CPR. The incident made the siblings even closer, and now--at ages 20 and 4-- they have a wonderful bond. Nina hopes their story encourages others to learn CPR, which can save lives, and it's often taught for free at places like schools and fire departments. You can watch the video here.

Learn About Socktober!

Socktober is an event happening throughout October, in which socks are donated to children in foster care. The non-profit organization, Foster Love, does this because when kids go into foster care they often lack necessities that the system cannot offer them, especially during cold months. They received 75,000 socks from Bombas, which is a partner of Foster Love. Now, they're trying to collect money to ship all these socks to different places in the U.S. where kids need them. It costs $1 to send 3 pairs of socks, and they have small boxes with 150 socks for $50 shipping and large boxes with 300 socks for $100 shipping. You can help by donating money, spreading the word on social media, or even doing fundraisers at work or your business. It's all about making sure kids in foster care have warm feet this October!

The History of Halloween

Halloween is a scary holiday with ancient roots. It started over 2,000 years ago with the Celtic festival of Samhain, celebrated on October 31. People believed that on this night, the boundary between the living and the dead was blurred, and ghosts roamed the Earth. To keep the spirits away, they lit bonfires and wore costumes. When the Romans conquered the Celts, they combined their festival of Feralia with Samhain, and later, Christianity incorporated some of these traditions into All Saints' Day, celebrated on November 1st. Over time, these customs evolved into modern Halloween, featuring trick-or-treating, costumes, and spooky decorations, making it a fun and spooky holiday we enjoy today.

Kent Man's Extraordinary Bond with Pet Turkey

Dave Brooker, an animal lover from Maidstone, Kent, United Kingdom, has formed an unbreakable bond with his pet turkey, Trouble Version Two (T2), who has been with him for two years. They met when T2 was hatched on Brooker’s farm and imprinted on him, leaving them inseparable since. The pair go everywhere with each other, from car rides, to even going to the pub together, where she is exceptionally behaved.

Dave claims that T2 “[Is] like my child, she’s good company and entertaining—sometimes I even think she’s part human.”

The only time they have to separate is when Dave goes to work in Tesco as an online order picker. Dave also previously struggled with anxiety and depression, but T2’s presence has helped him immensely. Since meeting T2, he has also refrained from eating turkey during Thanksgiving and instead believes that all Turkeys go on holiday during December!

UK's Malvern Autumn Festival Showcases Record Breaking Vegetables

At the Malvern Autumn festival in the UK, a large display of colossal vegetables amazed many visitors. The star attraction of the festival this year was a 1,373 pound pumpkin grown by farmer Curtis Leach, which surpassed all other entries. This pumpkin, however, still seems tiny in comparison to the shocking 2,700-lb pumpkin that holds the Guiness World Record for the heaviest pumpkin. Farmers at the festival share secrets on how to grow such large pumpkins, emphasizing the importance of large amounts of manure and water.

With the festival's reputation of growing large vegetables, many entrees have been able to make it into the Guiness World record book, with eight more coming in this year. One of the following was Annette Stone's 54-pound cabbage. This event celebrated all the hard work of UK farmers and all their monster vegetable creations.

Missing Toddler Found Sleeping in Woods with Dog as A Pillow After Walking 3 Miles Barefoot

Two-year old Thea Chase was playing barefoot in her yard in Faithorn, Michigan when her uncle told her to go inside and put on a pair of shoes.

Thea’s mother Brooke, said she had the sudden instinct to go check on Thea and their two dogs, a Rottweiler named Buddy and an English Springer named Hartley. It soon became clear that Thea was nowhere to be found. Now in a panic, Brooke and Thea’s uncle spent a quarter of an hour searching the house and the surrounding area before alerting Thea’s dad and the police to the situation.

The police put out an immediate call for drones, canine teams, and search and rescue teams in order to comb the rural county. Meanwhile, members of the community formed their own search party to find Thea.

After a frantic four hours, a family friend of the Chases’ discovered Buddy by the side of a trail. Thea was found a short way from the trail, shoeless and sleeping soundly with her head atop Hartley’s body.

“She has those dogs wrapped around her finger,” said Thea’s mother, who was extremely relieved when Thea was finally found after wandering off three miles into the woods.
