Finding the Best Pumpkin Spice Latte

The temperature is finally in the mid-70s and the sky is full of clouds. You put on a comfy knit sweater and chestnut Uggs, but something is missing. A pumpkin spice latte is all you need to complete that fall feeling.

We went to four different PSL-selling locations around Valencia to find out which latte is worth your time, money, and fall experience. We ordered every drink hot and in the smallest size. Through the failed and successful drinks, one latte reigns supreme, and another is rotting in the dump.

Coffee Bean: Pumpkin Latte

Price: $5.35

Rating: 5.7/10

Lila: Overwhelming pumpkin flavor with a complete lack of spice; just not my type.

Molly: Very strong pumpkin flavor; tasted like lukewarm pumpkin pie.

Starbucks: Pumpkin Spice Latte

Price: $5.25

Rating: 7.6/10

Lila: The classic. The blueprint. Can’t be replicated. A little bit basic though and there is definitely room for improvement as the flavors are a little underwhelming.

Molly: The iconic PSL we were expecting and it did not disappoint! Overall good flavor!

Peet’s Coffee: Pumpkin Latte

Price: $5.35

Rating: 3.5/10

Lila: The first sip blew me away, and not in a good way. It tasted like someone just poured a spice cabinet into a cup of water and where was the pumpkin???

Molly: Do not drink this biohazard!!! It tasted like black coffee with way too much spice and a touch of fire ash.

Dunkin’: Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte

Price: $4.69

Rating: 8.9/10

Lila: A completely unexpected win!! The pumpkin and spice came together perfect but wasn’t over or underwhelming in any way.

Molly: The unexpected perfect PSL! The flavors blended perfectly and it was just the right amount of sweetness and spice.

At the end of our pumpkin spice latte adventure, we crowned the Dunkin’ Donuts Pumpkin Spice Latte as the winner! Starbucks was a close second, with Coffee Bean following, and Pete’s Coffee in last place. This season when you're craving the perfect drink to match the fall weather, make sure to stop by Dunkin’ Donuts!
