Athlete Spotlight: Ella Freed

Ella Freed is a senior at Valencia High School as well as a dedicated, passionate performer. As a 4-year theater and 3-year choir participant, she has spent all of her high school career working hard within these programs. Ella has won numerous awards through the Jazz Vocal Ensemble, Two N’ Four, and the amazing theater program that Valencia offers to students.

Q: How long have you done this sport, and what inspired you to start?
A: “I’ve done theater for 10 years and I’ve done choir for 3 years. I really liked performing on stage since I used to dance and my favorite part was the performing aspect, as well as being the center of attention.”
Q: What have you learned from playing this sport?
A: “I’ve learned that if you don’t take care of your body you’re not gonna be able to perform to the best of your abilities.”
Q: Are you planning to continue this sport in the future?
A: “Yes, I’m going to major in theater and hopefully have a professional career within it.”
Q: Is there someone within this sport that you look up to?
A: “Yes, my boyfriend is very talented at singing and acting so I admire him a lot.”
Q: What advice would you give to someone who wants to join this sport?
A: “Work hard and don’t expect to achieve anything without hard work. Talent comes second to work ethic.”
Q: What position do you play and why do you enjoy it?
A: “I play the lead. I enjoy having a lot of responsibilities within the play like costume changes, lines, and songs.”
